What are the employer’s responsibilities under the COVID-19 pandemic?

It is up to the employer to ensure that protection of the safety and health of its workers by adopting the measures necessary to ensure compliance with the rules on safety and health at work.

On February 26, DGS published Guidance 006/2020,addressed to Companies, identifying prevention, control and surveillance procedures in companies, which includes the development of a specific Contingency Plan to respond to an epidemic scenario by the new coronavirus.

Companies shall draw up a contingency plan appropriate to the workplace and in accordance with the guidelines of the Directorate-General for Health and the Authority for Working Conditions.

19 Recommendations to Adapt Workplaces and Protect Workers were recently made available by the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, in conjunction with the ACT and DGS. The publication can be found in the link.
